The Federal Communications Commission’s 2014 E-rate Modernization Order prompted a surge in WiFi investment among K-12 schools, expanding students’ access to digital learning. But a lot has changed since this 2014 order, and schools’ bandwidth needs have grown exponentially.
Fortunately, new WiFi technologies have emerged that can improve the throughput speeds for each network user by as much as four times the amount of previous products — and the FCC also recently voted to expand the amount of E-rate funding available to small schools for WiFi services over a five-year period.
