2025 EMEA state of fraud and abuse — home goods

Consumers of home goods expect ever-faster shipping, diverse payment options, and VIP experiences. While merchants strive to provide all of these, it often leaves them exposed to increased risks of fraud and consumer abuse throughout the entire shopper journey.

As sales increase, so too does fraud, as fraudsters seek to uncover weaknesses in merchants’ e-commerce platforms. For example, many home goods merchants implement ‘donate or discard’ return policies. While intended to combat costly reverse logistics, this practice has inadvertently opened merchants to dishonest shoppers requesting illegitimate returns. Furthermore, the rise of Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) payments has enabled bad actors to execute scams with greater ease and less upfront investment.

In this report, we highlight the fraud pressure and consumer abuse trends happening within the EMEA home goods market.
