Future of work: 4 predictions that will define the next generation of work

After three tumultuous years, businesses have learnt invaluable lessons about how to operate and what their employees expect from them in a vastly different working world. From the new working models their people want to adopt, to the technologies and processes that’ll enable them to create engaged and productive teams, there’s no going back from the changes of the past few years. And from this new platform, businesses once again look to the future and the ways in which work will continue to evolve – either through employee demand or technological innovation.

To better understand how these changes will impact businesses in 2023 and beyond, we surveyed 2,000 employees and 400 business leaders across the UK and US, to gather data on the changes they’re expecting to see, and crucially, how they’re preparing. We also asked experts both within and outside of Meta, to get their take on the future direction of work and the changes they’re anticipating over the coming years.

The result is four key predictions around the attitudes and innovations Meta believes will come to dominate and define the workplace. These trends will need to be front of mind for businesses and their leaders if they’re to succeed in the new future of work.
