In the latest Cisco Talos Incident Response (IR) Trends report, web shells overtook ransomware as the most-observed threat, comprising almost 25% of threats observes by Talos in Q1 2023, and ransomware making up less than 10%. Other notable takeaways from the trends report include the observation that 30% of engagements did not have multi-factor authentication (MFA) fully enabled or adopted and the most targeted sectors were healthcare and public health, followed by retail.
